Where are international wines consumed in Israel, more at home or more in restaurant-bars ?
On our experience, before the covid 19 situation, most of the international wines were consumed in the restaurants & bars (mainly at the Center of Israel) and when the covid situation started, habits have been changed, the consumers upgraded their home wine consuming and started drinking more premium wines at home.
Israel was the first country to achieve group immunity, has the market already been restored similar levels to 2019? What changes do you perceive about wine in a post-covid situation?
We predicted the Post Covid Situation will benefit the wine trade in Israel, more customers were exposed to better wines, most of the consumers upgraded the wines level.
In Israel there is huge price difference between the on trade to the off-trade, the off-trade wine price for the consumer is between double to triple.
We believe that the market size will upscale, the off-trade portion will be much bigger compared to the pre Covid 19 days. Restaurants will have to reconsider the pricing policy.
