VINEYARDS

WHERE IT ALL STARTS

“We think more about the land and history than about the transformation in the bodega”

The vineyard is where all our important work takes place. It takes up the biggest effort and the most detailed attention of Pujanza throughout the whole year. In the production process we try to preserve the quality and parameters obtained in the vineyard to the maximum. The process is carried out calmly, with no hurry, always paying close attention to the particular needs of each vat, of each vineyard plot.

Pujanza works 40 hectares of vines, all situated within the boundaries of Laguardia within a radius of barely 4 kilometres of the bodega. Among these vineyards, four plots stand out:

VINEYARDS

FINCA VALDEPOLEO

One of Pujanza’s most emblematic vineyards, it occupies an area of 17.5 has. and is situated at an average altitude of 630 m. It is the source of the Finca Valdepoleo wine.

VINEYARDS

FINCA NORTE

This is a vineyard located at a height of 720 m, probably one of the highest vineyards in the DOCa Rioja. This is where the emblematic Pujanza Norte comes from.

VINEYARDS

FINCA LA VALCABADA

A hundred-year-old vineyard which comes from the family of Carlos San Pedro, with an area of 0.8 hectares and set at an altitude of 600 metres. It sits in a small valley, surrounded by low hills. The vineyard has a particular microclimate which gives it the bodega’s most Mediterranean-style character. It is the source of Cisma, a wine with limited production.

VINEYARDS

SAN JUAN DE ANTEPORTALATINA

A 1.5-hectare vineyard plot at an altitude of 600 m. In its highest part, the so-called “cabezada”, Viura grapes are grown for making the Añadas Frías and SJ Anteportalatina wines. These wines share a vineyard, but never of the same vintage.
